OKAbout Octopus Wallet
Octopus Wallet, previously known as Octopus O! ePay, is a network-based stored value service operated and managed by Octopus Cards Limited, that supports P2P payments, top-ups from/to Octopus Cards, online payments and fund transfers from/to any bank and e-wallet accounts through the Faster Payment System anytime and anywhere.
There are three types of Wallets available for application – namely Lite, Plus and Pro (Verified), you can choose the one suits your needs the best.

* Octopus Wallet Plus application is now only available for users who aged 13-17. Any changes made to Octopus Wallet would not affect the management of Octopus Card via Octopus App, and the collection of Government's public transport fare subsidy and consumption vouchers. Existing Octopus Wallet Plus users (on or before 31st December, 2022) are not affected and the services will remain the same.

If you don't have a HKID, you can't apply for an Octopus Wallet Plus and Pro (Verified). But you still can apply for Octopus Wallet Lite by signing up with your mobile number and email address.

[1] “Daily”, “Monthly” and “Annual” limits are respectively counted as a day (from 00:00 to 23:59 in Hong Kong time), a calendar month, and an anniversary year of your Octopus Wallet.
[2] The “Transaction Limit” will be applied to the aggregate of the following transactions from your Octopus Wallet:
- Payment for goods and services
- Fund transfer to Octopus Card/Wallet or to bank / e-wallet
[3] The “Fund Transfer Limit” will be applied to the aggregate fund Transfer to Octopus Card/Wallet or to bank / e-wallet
[4] The “Transaction limit” will be applied to the aggregate of following transactions received by your Octopus Wallet
- Fund transfer from Octopus Card/Wallet or from bank / e-wallet
- Cash top-up through designated merchants
[5] “Annual” limit is counted on an anniversary year of insurance of your Octopus Mastercard or your Octopus UnionPay Card, where applicable.
#The old Octopus Mastercard (without "EEA" mark in the top right corner) was terminated on 27 December 2023.
The default setting is HK$3,000, but you may adjust the limit by tapping profile icon from top left corner > "Account Settings" > "Transaction Limit" in your Octopus App.
You may check the starting date for the annual transaction limit by tapping profile icon from top left corner > "Account Settings" > "Transaction Limit" in your Octopus App.
The Monthly fund transfer limit from Linked Octopus physical card to Octopus Wallet applies to the total fund transfer amount from any Linked Octopus Card(s) to your Octopus Wallet within a calendar month.
In addition, the maximum aggregate amount of fund transfer from a single linked Octopus Card to any Octopus Wallet Lite in a calendar month is HK$5,000.
This limit refers to the amount of receiving payment to be credited to your Octopus Wallet in each transaction through a FPS Participant.
The "Annual Spending Limit" refers to the maximum aggregated amount of payment transactions made by your Octopus Mastercard / Octopus UnionPay Card in an anniversary year of issuance of your Octopus Mastercard / Octopus UnionPay Card.
When you turn 18, your Octopus Wallet Plus will continue normal service. You can also upgrade to Octopus Wallet Pro (Verified) using your new adult HKID card to get higher transaction and stored value limits.
If you are an Octopus Wallet user, you may opt to not receive any direct marketing materials from Octopus Cards Limited relating to our products and services (including use of Octopus at our Service Providers and use of Octopus Wallet Services at our Authorised Partners) through various channel(s) - including email, SMS and Octopus App Push Notification - by using your personal data by tapping profile icon from top left corner in Octopus App > "App Settings" > "Direct Marketing". You may also opt out by contacting us. The request will be effective within 10 working days.
